When fellow Kiwi Emma Churchill got in touch with me to blog about her new ethical swimwear brand Emroce it was an instantaneous yes from me!
Eco-chic swimwear, yes please!
Emroce suits are made from Econyl Lycra, a byproduct of recycled fishing nets transformed into functional swim and activewear fabric.
Not one to waste Emma creates and adapts her designs where all the fabrication is used with zero waste. During the production process, all the suits are cut in a tessellated pattern, often needing 2 different designs to make this work. If there are any remaining off-cuts they are then used in the making of new designs to create unique pieces; thus bringing you zero waste and eco-conscious swimwear.
Deco Del Mar is Emroce’s debut collection and as you can guess by the name its inspired by the shapes of Art Deco. Bold geometric shapes and strong colours, pairing navy with black in suits designed to withstand the surf. Styles that stay in place without creeping up or slipping to the side. The functionality of a garment is its true beauty is central to the Emroce brand standard.
I chose to focus on my two favorite suits from this collection the One.One.Onsey, Hot Air Top and High Waisters bottoms.
The One.One.Onsey one piece is chic and minimal in design, flattering the hips and accentuating the smallest part of the waist with its navy and black colour block placement. Over the shoulder straps criss cross over the back for comfort and stay in place, giving you a suit you can be as active as you like in. Offering medium peach coverage and cut in a style that’s still a little cheeky giving a hint of sexiness to this sporty suit.
The Hot Air Top and High Wasters Bottom is a combination of navy top and classic black for the bottom. In general, I prefer this type of matching with the lighter colour on the top for a figure flattering combination, especially if you are bottom heavy. This wrap style top has thin halter and back straps that won’t create unsightly tan lines, while the triangle style cups offer great bust coverage and comfort. The bottoms come up to the smallest part of your waist giving you that 50’s bombshell feel whilst the peach cut is modernized with a medium cheeky coverage. Again another great example of a sporty suit you can feel chic, sexy and well supported for getting active in.
Ending on a high note, this new technology of using recycled plastics feels good for the soul and the planet whilst also feeling amazing to wear!
These are quick-drying, breathable quality fabrics made to last. So good on you Emma, MoreSwimwear supports you and is excited to see your Eco friendly brand grow with an exciting future ahead.
